Ebony is a wood found in tropical regions of Africa and Asia. The tree can be up to 30 meters tall. Its barrel can reach 10 meters in height for a diameter of 1m. The easiest ebony to obtain is Macassar's ebony, much more marbled than Gabonese ebony which has become a protected species. Ebony is a fatty wood with a fine grain. It has excellent moisture resistance. Ebony is one of the heaviest and densest woods that can be found. It has good resistance to fungi, hence it’s very good resistance to moisture, which makes it a practically rot-proof wood.
